NEW DELHI: India and perhaps the most beautiful airportPakyong in Sikkim – will soon be a direct flight far from Delhi. SpiceJet will launch a daily Delhi-Pakyong direct service from January 23, 2021.
SpiceJet was the only airline to operate a daily Kolkata-Pakyong-Kolkata flight there after the airport opened in September 2018. It had stopped this flight in June 2019 due to infrared issues at the airport. . The airline was awarded two routes to Pakyong in August 2018 – one from Kolkata and one from Delhi – under the ude desh ka aam nagrik (UDAN) program.
“Pakyong Airport is the only operational civilian airport to handle commercial flights in the state and SpiceJet will be the first and only airline to offer daily direct air connectivity between Delhi and the northeastern state of Sikkim. . The airline will deploy a Bombardier Q400 aircraft on the Delhi-Pakyong-Delhi route, ”SpiceJet said in a statement. It offers an introductory promotional fare starting at Rs 4,310 on the Delhi-Pakyong and Pakyong-Delhi routes.
The airline is also adding a second frequency in the Delhi-Leh-Delhi sector from January 27, 2021.
SpiceJet CMD Ajay Singh said, “Sikkim is one of the most beautiful and sought after travel destinations in India. Our exclusive Delhi to Pakyong (Gangtok) flights will meet the growing demand of vacationers and backpackers who wanted to visit this beautiful city at the foot of the Himalayas. With the launch of these new flights, we aim to shorten journeys and lengthen stays in these beautiful destinations.
