Christmas is coming early for lovers of chocolate and fine spirits.
Kit Kat has announced their new whiskey barrel aged chocolate bar, which will launch on December 15th.
The bar was created by Japanese pastry chef Yasumasa Takagi, providing an adult experience to the beloved candy, Forbes reported.
According to Kit Kat Chocolate maker, his upscale boutique responsible for a variety of high and unique flavors, the chocolate used for the candies will be “aged for 180 days in the barrel that was once used for aging whiskey”.
This ‘cask aged cocoa’, using cocoa from Ghana and casks of whiskey from Islay off the coast of Scotland, ‘the sacred place of whiskey’, will then be transformed into a special bar.
The final product will deliver a smoky, earthy, peaty flavor in the casks and “the luxurious taste of bitter chocolate covering”, as well as an iconic whiskey scent.
The limited-time specialty candy bar would only be available at Chocolatory stores in Japan later this month for $ 2.88.
Whiskey has become an incredibly popular spirit in Japan, with many distilleries operating in the country. Globally, Japanese whiskey has gained recognition abroad in recent years. It is generally famous for its smooth and chewy taste.
