Offered free to participants, the system allows pilots, airframe and powerplant mechanics (with or without inspection clearance), and other FAA-certified aircraft maintenance technicians to access an online library of FAASTeam-accredited educational video programs, topical quizzes, and links to applicable reference materials on SocialFlight.com and the SocialFlight mobile app.
Those who successfully complete the program, with the exception of the IA refresher course, will have the appropriate Wings/AMT course credits automatically added to their FAASafety.gov account through SocialFlight.
The FAASTeam Wings Pilot Proficiency Program is a voluntary pilot training and safety initiative that encourages Airmen to stay current through a variety of online courses, seminars, and in-flight training. Learn more about FAA Wings credit here. The FAA’s AMT Awards program encourages AMTs and their employers by providing awards based on training received during a calendar year.
Certified maintenance professionals will have access to “FAA-accepted AI refresher training pursuant to Title 14 CFR Part 65, § 65.93(a)(4),” SocialFlight noted in a press release. “According to the FAR, A&P/IA mechanics can complete 8 hours of accepted training per year in order to qualify for renewal of their FAA inspection clearance.” Those who complete this course will receive a certificate of completion which can be submitted to their local District Flight Standards Office with their A&P/IA renewal application.
“Adopting new technologies is key to reaching more pilots and educating them about aviation safety,” SocialFight partner and aviation educator Barry Schiff said in the press release. “By making the program free, on-demand, and offering FAA credits, SocialFlight’s FAA learning system makes it easier than ever for pilots and mechanics to continue learning and honing their skills.”
